David G. Schunk began serving as Pastor of the Vineyard in 1989. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Indiana University, and his Master’s Degree in Theology from Christian Life School of Theology.

While attending Indiana University, David married his High School sweetheart, Lisa, in 1977. Despite having grown up in church, David didn’t realize that it was possible to have a personal relationship with Christ. Through his wife, Lisa, and some newfound friends, David invited Christ into his life in July of 1978, just before his senior year at IU. A few months later, he began to sense God speaking to his heart about pursuing ministry as a vocation.

Upon graduating from IU, David and Lisa moved to Ft. Wayne, IN where they pursued their calling to ministry. During their time in Ft. Wayne, they were blessed with the addition of their two oldest children: David and Susie.

After seven years away, God called David and Lisa back to Bloomington, to join the staff of what would soon become Vineyard Christian Fellowship. After this move their youngest child John was born. Then in 1989, David answered the call to become Pastor of what is now the Vineyard Community Church of Bloomington. 

David and Lisa have a heart for reaching unchurched people and helping them to enter into relationship with Jesus Christ and begin to live in His freedom.

Susie Schlemmer came on staff with the Vineyard as Office Administrator in 2014 and though she's still operating in that position she was ordained as our Associate Pastor in the fall of 2022 . She graduated from Taylor University Fort Wayne with BS in Elementary Education. In the summer of 2015 she began to feel called to pastoring and decided to pursue further education to see where it led. She began slowly working her way through Vineyard Institute courses as her schedule allowed and graduated with a Certificate in Biblical Leadership in 2019.

Susie is married to Josh and they have 2 awesome kids Lily and JD.
